§ 03 — What a business is built with

Every business is built with something.

Most were built with whatever was to hand. A cousin did the numbers because he was good at maths. The landlord chose the opening date because the lease started in March. The website says what the last agency said. Nobody chose any of it — it accumulated, and the business has been running on it ever since.

So: what is your business built with?

SULD DNA
§ — The belief

We believe a business should be solid all the way through.

Not hard on the surface and hollow inside. Not built for the opening and abandoned to year two. Not impressive in the deck and improvised on the floor.

Glass is hard: it resists the scratch, and then it shatters. Steel is tough — it takes the blow and holds. The name SULD comes from that second quality — the solid one.

§ — What goes in

Three things go in, and you can say them in one breath.

The order

What gets decided first, and why.

Not a project plan — a plan is a list of things in sequence. The order is the decision about which questions have to be answered before the others can be asked at all. Room count before clinician count. Price before packaging. The day the doors open before the day the marketing runs. A business built in the right order never has to be rebuilt; one built out of order is rebuilt every eighteen months, and each rebuild is sold internally as growth.

The pace

The date is a fact, not a hope.

The work runs backwards from the day the business must exist — the opening, the launch, the day the new offer goes live. Nothing goes quiet, and you are told early when two things you have asked for cannot both be true. Your clients are told a day and then they watch it happen, which in this region is how trust is actually earned.

The finish

Solid all the way through.

The back office held to the standard of the front of house. The confirmation that arrives with everything on it, so nobody has to ask a second question. The plain word where others reach for the big one. The refusal said first, not last. Your clients feel this before they can name it.

§ — And then

Then it is yours.

It goes in during the work and stays after. We do not deliver these things and leave with them: your people run it with us, then without us, then their people run it without you. Advice sits in a drawer. This is in every cell — including the cells that never met us: the hire in year two, the second branch, the next venture. Put in once, inherited by everything you build after.

§ — Why it stays

A way of working leaves when the consultant does. This does not.

Experience you inherit

50+ projects across nine countries, $68M in project value, and more than twenty years of combined operating experience — much of it alongside our sister company JD Middle East, the award-winning medical consultancy in Dubai and Istanbul. Every one of those projects settled a question the expensive way, so that yours does not have to. Experience cannot be invented or hurried, and it is the part of this that goes in whole.

Proved on live work, in your name

The first thing we do in your business is not a report about your business. We take one live thing — this month's proposal, the opening date, the page that is not converting — and finish it our way, on your documents, in your name. You see the ingredient on your own material before you decide how much of it you want.

It stays because it lives in what you repeat

The service page. The price. The first reply a new enquiry gets. The opening week. The one number read every month. A way of working that does not live inside something the business repeats will leave when the consultant does. One that does cannot leave without taking the business with it.

Nothing to be graded on

There is no score, no rating, no certificate, and no verdict on your company. We do not grade or award anything to anyone, and we never list our clients. The line is yours to carry, in your own name, to your own clients: Built with SULD DNA.

§ — What changes

Three things anyone can see.

How you present

BeforeA menu. Eleven services, four taglines, a website that reads like a directory because nobody chose.

AfterOne reason to come, stated in a sentence a stranger repeats correctly — and ten things they discover once they are inside. The pitch gets shorter. Clients finally know what to say when they recommend you.

How you talk, and reach

BeforeThree voices. The website is formal, the front desk improvises, and the founder is warmest of all at dinner — so the client meets the two weakest first.

AfterOne voice from the first reply to the last invoice. The concept before the campaign. The introduction before the advert, because here the route to a client is a person. The refusal before the pitch.

How you are seen

BeforeFine. Nobody complains, nobody remembers, nobody refers.

AfterDates that hold. Documents finished on both sides. A business that does not need its founder present to behave like itself. Clients describe it the way people describe a well-made thing.

And when it is in, you get to say so.

Built with SULD DNA

Not a prize. Not a grade. A fact about how it was made — and the line is yours to carry, not ours. We never list our clients.

Where others STOP, that will be our STARTING sign.

Bring one live thing — a decision that is stuck, a date that is slipping, a number that does not sit right. Thirty minutes is usually enough to see the shape of what is underneath it.
